My name is Kevin, founder of Crusader Albums.
I have been collecting stamps on and off (more on!) since 1968. As my collection developed, I purchased my first dedicated single country album. However, after opening the very splendid binder. l was disappointed with the actual pages that my stamps would be mounted on. l thought they were quite plain, and apart from showing the year and an occasional picture, it was lacking any information to help me in getting the correct stamp into the correct space. This was especially true if there was more than one type of that stamp! The pages were printed on custom sized paper, and most pages had only a few spaces for the stamps. Quite a few pages only had space for just a single stamp!
I felt that the cost of this precious first volume was excessive, given layout and design of the pages. The whole page was contained in a frame that would fit on an A4 page. Worse, the layout of the album did not even match my catalogue, so it was difficult to know which type of stamp went where. When I needed the next volume, the cost was considerably more, even though the number of pages was not correspondingly higher. It made me feel that this was not a way an album company should be treating its customers.
Over the years l have tried various album ranges and found most have the same failings and were either very specialised or just too simplified. Lots of attention had been paid to the outside, but very little to the inside. It was at this point that l realised l could make my own albums cheaper and better.
So l then set about, from a collector’s point of view, putting right the issues that l felt were lacking. I wanted my albums to have a smart and crisp feel to the outside, and the inside to be informative, precise and to have a logical layout. Then a non-stamp collecting friend looked at my albums and suggested that l could sell them on line. The concept of Crusader Albums (The Album of Choice), was born!
My personal albums are of a mid-range complexity and contain spaces for both mint and used, as l collect both types. l know that collectors are all different and require different types of albums and levels of complexity. My range of albums addresses these issues. So now, Crusader Albums offer you a range of personalised album choices to suit your needs as an individual collector, whilst at the same time, keeping the prices structured and reasonable.
